Hi everyone, My wife and I just recently purchased a 24ft Aluminum boat (Hewescraft Ocean Pro) for fishing and general recreation in the straits of Juan de Fuca in Washinton. It has a fully enclosed Alaskan bulkhead which basically means you can eat, sleep and whatever inside the wheelhouse. I'm thinking of doing some HF operating when out in the waters and my question is what type of antenna would you recommend? I'm against the screwdriver due to the salty marine environment. I'm leaning towards hamsticks or whatever you think would work in that environment? Also what type of rig would you suggest? I don't want to run my batteries down (have 2) so would a QRP rig be best? ALso would the whole boat be a good ground for the antenna? Thanks. |
