Description:

The West Fork Amateur Radio Club Inc.(WFARC) is a group of individuals in Wise and surrounding counties in North Central Texas pursuing and advancing the hobby and Community Service of Amateur Radio. We participate in ARRL Field Day, operate Special Event Stations, provide amatuer communications for Community events and support ARES with emergency communications capabilities. Many of our ARES members are also trained Skywarn Storm Spotters and we conduct Weather Nets during severe weather events in our area. We work through our Net Operator who communicates directly with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth Texas by radio to provide real time "eyes on the storm" reports to the NWS.  WFARC has an Emergency Communications Trailer with a pnuematic antenna mast, backup battery system, and on board generator. We have radios and antennas to cover almost every amateur band and we can deploy at a moments notice. WFARC also has a trailer mounted 25 kilowatt emergency diesel generator and power distribution panel for disaster response and relief activities. We work with local authorities to provide emergency communications whenever needed in our area. Along with our Community Service activities we also conduct VE testing sessions every other month for license levels from Technician to Amateur Extra. WFARC is a Texas nonprofit corporation and a 501(c)(3). Even with all of the serious stuff, we stlrive to promote having fun with Amateur Radio. We think of ourselves as a Fun Club and invite any Amatuer Operator or anyone who would like to become an Amateur Operator to come and check us out.
