Z6ØA to Debut November 1 from Kosovo
Preparatory to a “DXcursion” to Albania, a team of operators in Kosovo will fire up Z6ØA for the first time November 1 through November 3 on SSB, 14.210, 21.310 and 28.510 MHz, operating split as needed. Special emphasis will be given to Japan and the US.
Operators will include Vjollca, Z61VB; Ali, Z61DD; Driton, Z61DX, and Fehmi, Z62FB. Some new hams will participate as well. A special QSL card is available via OH2BH. A handful of Kosovo stations took part in the recent CQ World Wide SSB contest last weekend (those contacts will be uploaded to Logbook of the World).
While Kosovo has not yet qualified for DXCC credit, Albania does count and is still semi-rare on several bands. The future project to activate neighboring Albania is being organized by members of SHRAK, Kosovo's Amateur Radio Association (Z6ØA) and Radio Arcala (OH8X). That would happen next March during the CQ World Wide WPX (SSB) Contest. The Albania team will be headed by Fehmi Bojniku, Z62FB, and Martti Laine, OH2BH. They are seeking additional team members from the US and Japan. The Albania operation will take place in the coastal city of Durres.
