Beacons, FCC Part 97.203 (b) | KC1ENN | on 19/7/17 |
Question about FCC Part 97.203 (b) A beacon must not concurrently transmit on more than 1 channel in the same amateur service frequency band, from the same station location. OK I understand I should only have one transmission from my ham base station, mobile or otherwise, on a given frequency band when performing traditional ham hobby communication. That is driven home pretty good. I'm playing with, experimenting with, unattended, automatic uW/mW telemetry beacons on 70cm and 33cm. Also I am aware of FCC Part 15 devices, so I know I'm covered there as a fall back. Now the meat of the question is about (b): "from the same station location". If this part was omitted it would be clear, only one transmitter transmitting on one frequency band period, but the, "from the same station location" makes it appear two transmitters in different "locations" could be in operation simultaneously. Thoughts. |

Raspberry Pi low power contesting | KF7UBC | on 11/5/17 |
I have not,...sort of, but have used arduino using rfm22b and rfm69 to send rtty, feld hell, and CW on 70cm and 33cm, 10 mW. Works great. I'm also playing with RPI with an antenna hooked up to a GPO port, mixed modes and FM on HF to VHF. I intend to hook up my signalink to a PI but at the moment am playing with that and my softrock doing wspr on Win10/10m. I would love to see more discussion about these aspects of the hobby.

Question: Where in the forum should I start a thread on the rfm22b a 70cm/33cm FSK/GFSK/OOK low powered device?

AA6E, Thank you for the reply and your QST article suggestion. I'll certainly give the latter thought if/when my knowledge of these devices improves. In the mean time I may start a hardware forum thread on the rfm22b in the appropriate section to document the journey. Here on out I'll refer to it as a QRP ham radio transceiver. Thanks. |

Use of call sign with Part 15 devices on 33 cm and 70 cm ISM bands | KC1ENN | on 8/12/15 |
I am a very new, Technician licensed amateur working with programmable part 15 devices, the rfm22b and cc1101 chip set, controlling them with arduino's. My goal at this time is location/telemetry beacons for a side hobby sending data via RTTY and Feld Hell. I'm operating at less then 10 mW using the data sheet recommended single wire antenna. I'm receiving using a home made yagi, LNA4ALL, NooElec dongle and FL-DIGI. I have this working and get very good reception at distance. My question to the community is about using my call sign with a part 15 device. Thoughts, reservations, suggestions? Thank you. KC1ENN |
