The Highlands Amateur Radio Club sponsors a hamfest every year in February on the Saturday after Hamcation in Orlando. The club sponsors a VHF repeater in Lake Placid, and a UHF repeater in Avon Park. The two repeaters are linked. We also have a Fusion repeater which is connected to the WIRES-X system via an RF link. We operate another repeater which is linked into the state-wide SARNet system. We just completed an Extra Class session, followed by a VEC session where 6 hams upgraded to Extra Class.We held two club picnics last year, and plan to have more this year. We hold a net every morning at 9:00 on the linked repeaters. Field Day activity is a possibility if we have enough interest. A Winter Field Day event is being planned.
